-Misconceptions regarding love
-Biblical understanding of love—Love (agape) is a verb

I. Love is Patient — To be patient is to “suffer long” or be “slow to anger” or “to bear up under provocation without complaint.” (see 1 Peter 3:9; Genesis 18)

What does patience look like for us...
-Love bears with certain annoyances or inconveniences without complaint. -Love does not lose its temper when provoked.
-Love steadily perseveres.

II. Love is Kind — Just as patience is able to take anything from others, Kindness will give anything to others, even to enemies. “Kindness has to do with reaching out through deeps that demonstrate compassion and mercy.” (Roy Ciampa) (see Romans 2:4; Titus 3:4-6)

What does kindness look like for us...
-Love is considerate and helpful to others.
-Love is gentle and mild, always ready to show compassion, especially to those in need.

Conclusion—This is what LOVE DOES. Love DOES patience. Love DOES kindness.
If you are a New Creation in Christ you have access to this kind of love through the Holy

Spirit—Galatians 5:22-23

If you are lacking in love, patience, and kindness you need to repent, confess your sin to God and others, confess your need to God and others, study the patience and kindness of God from Scripture. Finally, be patient with your personal growth, because God is patient with you.

Personal Projects—Memorize 1 Corinthians 13; Sit down with friends and family and discuss what patience and kindness look like in day to day life. Pray with each other as struggles become apparent.
