Introduction—Review of 1 Corinthians 12-14

I. The Spiritual Gifts are Temporary—Paul is saying there is coming a day when Spiritual Gifts will cease, but LOVE will still remain.

II. The Spiritual Gifts are Partial

Our present knowledge is partial, but we will have full knowledge
Our present state is like that of children, but we will be mature
Our present situation is like looking through a bad mirror, but someday face to face.

III. Love is Eternal—the whole point of this section is to prove that Love is greater than Spiritual Gifts and here Paul argues that Love is Eternal—Spiritual Gifts, Faith, and Hope are not.

Faith, Hope, Love— see also Romans 5:1-5; Galatians 5:5-6; Ephesians 4:2-5; Colossians 1:4-5; 1 Thessalonians 1:3; 5:8; Hebrews 6:10-12; 10:22-24; 1 Peter 1:3-8.

*Why is love the Greatest?

Conclusion—

1. Some of you are failing to love the church by not connecting and using your gifts for the benefit of the body.

2. Some of you are failing to love because you refuse to repent of your self- interest, pride, lack of patience, bitterness, etc.

3. Some of you are failing to love because you don’t know the God of Love. (1 John 4:7-11)
